As the name reveals, the Tiger Lookalike ligers are the ligers which resemble just like the tigers. Within the type of tigers, the Tiger Lookalike ligers also resemble with the Golden Tabby tigers. These ligers have pale orange fur and dark brown stripes over them. A normal person can will find it very hard to distinguish between these types of ligers and the tigers.
The Tiger Lookalike ligers are the type of the ligers that almost look like the tigers. Their upper body color is similar to the Golden Tabby tigers while at the legs they resemble like the Bengal or Siberian tiger.
Even sometimes the people do confuse the Golden Tabby tigers with the ligers after sharing their pictures on social media forums and labeling them as the ligers. The Tiger Lookalike ligers are a lot different from the normal ligers and in fact they are very rare. Furthermore; in our observation we have only been able to see two or three such kinds of ligers out of more than a hundred ligers.
The best example of the Tiger Lookalike liger was of Rocky the liger. Rocky was the male liger who lived at the Safari's Sanctuary in Oklahoma, USA. If you look at the picture of the Rocky, it resembled almost similar to a tiger rather than a liger. Rocky was a very famous liger and it was brought to the zoo as part of the rescued animal.
Rocky the liger was one of the most popular Tiger Lookalike liger at the Safari's Sanctuary in Oklahoma, USA. Rocky was one of the most aggressive male ligers weighing 800 to 900 pounds in weight.
Rocky the liger had a fearsome reputation of killing one its caretaker as well. Rocky the liger lived for almost 16 years and it died in 2014 at the Safari's Sanctuary. Apart from Rocky the liger, other two Tiger Lookalike ligers which we have spotted so far are living at the Taman Safari Zoo in Indonesia.
Despite the fact that the Tiger Lookalike ligers resemble the tigers, they can still be differentiated from the tigers. First of all the Tiger Lookalike ligers are much bigger than the normal tigers. Just like the normal ligers, they weigh almost 800 to 900 pounds in weight. Moreover; their height is also bigger than the tigers. Secondly; unlike the Golden Tabby tigers who have white paws, these Tiger Lookalike ligers have orange-brown fur on their paws and fur.
The Ti-liger Lookalike ligers are bigger than the normal tigers and they have spotted facial markings instead of linear line markings of the tigers.
However; this makes them closer in resemblance to the normal tigers. The last and very differentiating feature of the Tiger Lookalike ligers vs the tiger is of the facial markings. The facial markings of the ligers (also Tiger Lookalike Liger) are in spots while the facial markings of the tigers are linear or in lines.
Another key observation within the Tiger Lookalike ligers is the presence and the absence of the mane. Rocky the liger didn't have mane, however; another Tiger Lookalike liger at the Taman Safari Zoo in Indonesia has a small beautiful mane around its neck. This liger is just like a tiger but the presence of mane just distinguishes it against the tigers.
Some Tiger Lookalike ligers may also have manes. We have witnessed one example from Taman Safari Zoo in Indonesia in this regard.
This Tiger Lookalike liger in Indonesia was confiscated as part of the police raid on some millionaire's mansion to solve the crime of murder. The authorities were surprised to see the presence of the liger and many other exotic animals at the mansion. The Indonesian Tiger Lookalike liger is still alive today and you can watch it at the Taman Safari Zoo in Indonesia.
The Tiger-lookalike ligers also resemble with another type of a liger called the Ti-liger. Ti-ligers are the second generation hybrid big cats having male tiger as their father and female liger as their mother. A Ti-liger from the Zoological Wildlife Foundation looks exactly like the Tiger-lookalike ligers. Furthermore; both the ligers and the Ti-ligers have the same facial markings.
The Tiger Lookalike ligers are also somewhat similar to the Ti-ligers which are the second generation hybrids. A Ti-liger is usually smaller than the Tiger Lookalike liger.
However; the Ti-ligers do have very pale colored fur as compared to the Tiger Lookalike ligers. Therefore; often it becomes very difficult to distinguish in between the Ti-liger, Tigers and the Ligers (Tiger Lookalike Ligers). Radar is one of the famous and the oldest known Ti-liger which lives at the Tiger World animal sanctuary in the state of North Carolina, USA. The Tiger Lookalike ligers are also somewhat similar to the Ti-ligers which are the second generation hybrids. A Ti-liger is usually smaller than the Tiger Lookalike liger.
Until now four types of ligers have been categorized which include the Maned ligers, the Maneless ligers, the Tiger Lookalike ligers and the White ligers. All of these types of ligers have unique features and on the basis of them they are categorized into four types.
It should also be noted that a single litter of the ligers from one tigress will always have same types of ligers at one birth, however; they may be different to the litters of ligers born to another tigress.
