Ligers at Chang Puak Camp - Hat Yai, Thailand

Chang Puak Camp is also the home to one of the rarest big cats in the world i.e. the liger. The presence of the ligers at the Chang Puak Camp also accumulates it amongst the very few zoos and the animal sanctuaries in the world that have ligers. Furthermore; it is perhaps the only zoo in the world which has liger as a big cat for the visitors because other zoos or safari park usually have tigers, lions and leopards etc. along with the ligers.

Chang Puak Camp has one of the rarest big cats of the world called the ligers. Ligers are part of Chang Puak Camp since 2017 while more and more ligers are coming to the camp.

Chang Puak Camp is located at Hat Yai city of Thailand which is also one of the most popular tourist attractions of Thailand. If you are in Thailand and you are eager to watch a liger then you can visit the Chang Puak Camp to not only have a real view but a live one-on-one or face-to-face interaction with their magnificent ligers.

Currently; as many as 3 ligers are part of the Chang Puak Camp. One of the ligers at the Chang Puak Camp is the female liger and her name is Jasmine the liger. Jasmine is the 3 year old female liger and she is already as big as a huge male lion or a tiger. These ligers at the Chang Puak Camp have beautiful dark brown stripes which are similar to the tiger stripes. This female liger was introduced at the Chang Puak Camp in 2017.

As many as 3 ligers are part of the Chang Puak Camp in 2019. One of the female ligers is Jamine the liger who is at least 3 years old as of now in 2013.

Therefore; it is assumed that she was born in some other zoo or animal sanctuary and from there she would have been later shifted to the Chang Puak Camp. The camp doesn't have any breeding facilities for the big cats, therefore this assumption is highly plausible. Recently; in 2019 the Chang Puak Camp has also included a small liger cub who has caught the attention of many visitors of the camp.

The best thing about Chang Puak Camp is that it allows its visitors to have a very close interaction with its ligers. You can sit beside the liger or hug the liger and the liger will still remain calm and tolerate your presence. Even some kids and even adults ride on the top of the ligers too at the Chang Puak Camp. The liger seems to be perfectly tamed and tolerant.

At Chang Puak Camp, you can even hug or ride over the liger and the liger will tolerate your presence. Their ligers are well-tamed and an official is always around to ensure visitors' safety and security.

As a precaution the liger is chained at an arm's length which is tied to the wooden berth on which the liger is sitting. The small length of the chain limits the movement of the liger in case it gets aggressive. A liger tamer is always around to ensure the safety of the visitors and to avoid any unfortunate occurrence from being happening.

The liger enclosure at the Chang Puak Camp is also very unique. It is very unique because unlike the other zoos where you see the big cats and ligers behind the bars or within the cages; this liger enclosure is built as a spacious facility and resembles like a studio. However; there may be another enclosure of the liger apart from this studio like enclosure.

All the animals including the ligers, monkeys, elephants and even crocodiles seem to be very well-fed and cared at the Chang Puak Camp.

The ligers look very healthy and their health also suggests that the ligers are well-fed and care-after. Ligers are the only big cat at the Chang Puak Camp while the other animals include the elephants, monkeys, birds of prey and the crocodiles. Visitors can also enjoy animal shows of monkeys, elephants and crocodiles etc.
