Ligerworld.com in this page shows different pictures of ligers. These pictures have been taken from different parts of the world. Therefore, ligerworld.com is one of the very few websites about the ligers which shows the pictures of the ligers from different diversified geographic locations from all around the world. The pictures are specifically shown by taking the permission of the photographers who own these pictures. However, if any other source wants to use these pictures they should also take express permission of the pictures from their real owners and then show these pictures to their websites. First up is the picture of a liger which lives at the Harbin province in China. This area is very cold area and each winter it accumulates a lot of snow. There are believed to be 4 ligers living in the Harbin zoo. In these pictures we are showing two ligers. One liger is male liger, which in the first snap is very young and he is resting in a playful manner.
This area Harbin, where this liger lives contains a very thick snow in the winter. You can even see a fresh snow almost on the right side of the picture. The liger in the picture is a male liger. It has a very small but well groomed mane around him. This liger will probably be nearly 8 to 10 months old. One can that unlike lions and most likely with the tigers, this liger has a white belly, chest and all the body area from downwards towards its tail. Tigers used to have this kind of color. Therefore, liger has inherited the white color from its mother. Whereas; the brown back and legs and also its beautiful mane is being inherited from its father who is a male African lion. This liger is very young, very powerful yet a very beautiful creature. Now in the next snap, we shall see the same liger but with a bigger age.
This second snap is of the same male liger, which lives at Harbin. This time he is much bigger, probably more than 3 years old and much more powerful than before. You can see he is more serious now rather than playful this time and even more thoughtful as well. The mane is thick but well groomed and not as much bushy as the lions do have. The stripes on his back are more darker than before. This is a clear indicator of liger being touching the prime of its life. As this liger will grow older after 8 years onwards, these stripes will start to fade away. Currently this liger will be very huge probably more than 900 pounds. You can see the size from his back to the belly, almost 2 times bigger than that of the lion or tiger. The next picture is of the female liger which lives at the same location in Harbin zoo within China.
Now this is a picture of a female liger in Harbin zoo in China. It is living just beside that other liger. We can also see our other previous male liger just on the left. This is the second liger there in that zoo. This liger is almost the same as that of the male liger. But it does not have any mane. It tale, lower body, upper body and even the stripes are almost the same in color and shades as that of the male liger. This female liger looks very huge, in fact much huger than the tigresses and lionesses. A female liger often weighs equivalent to that of the male tiger or lion. But it might not be necessary because they may weigh more than that because ligers exhibit growth inhibiting hormones. Below is another snap of the same male liger but this time it is behind the grill so we might not have a clear view of it but still we can see it.
By the time this snap would have been taken, this liger would have been almost 6 to 8 months old. Look at the snow around him. Thanks to the authorities they have their cozy homes, where they can protect themselves from such a cold weather. But the floor is cemented, which would make them feel much colder as compared to the muddy floor though. Still it is arguable that these animals if kept should have at least be given a big enclosure, where they can enjoy, run and even walk around. Ligers love to swim but unfortunately these ligers in the Harbin zoo does not have the swimming pool. Therefore, these ligers have already been spared from one of their natural instinct which is swimming. Next up is a picture of the world's most famous liger named as Hercules. Hercules lives in United States of America. It lives at a very famous animal kingdom zoo named as Parrot Jungle Island. The picture shown below is taken from the King Richards' Faire. Hercules lead the big cats in this show. In the picture you can see Dr. Antle along with Hercules as well.
Hercules the liger is taking milk. According to Dr. Antle they do not give him milk almost daily but on some specific times and especially when there is some show or presentation of this enormous and gigantic liger. The milk allows the liger to be more concentrated towards drinking it rather than behaving in some other way around. Therefore, it serves as a pacifier for this liger. Another picture of the Hercules the liger from the same faire is as under as well
Now in this snap the liger has taken the milk and he has his intentions set towards the public in front of him. According to Dr. Antle ligers are behaving it like that but it is not their natural instinct. They behave like that for a very small interval. And they have to set back to their enclosures, where they belong to. Despite how calm this liger looks, there is a big ferocious beast being hidden under this liger.
The below picture is a liger that lives in Korea. There are 4 ligers living in Korea. The first ever liger in the Korea was named as Rapido. The current picture is of a young adult liger. This liger is a male liger. Korea is also famous for breeding white ligers as well. Howeer, no pictorial evidence exists till the date.
Finally we are moving towards another very famous liger of the world. That is Rocky the liger. Rocky the liger has a reputation of being highly ferocious.
Rocky is the first liger ever in the world to claim the life of a human being. That was a very sad incidence though, as Rocky in 2008 killed one of the tiger trainers named as Peter Getz. No one is allowed to feed liger inside its cage because of its lethal and attacking reputation.
